Post-Parent Meeting, Student Expectations, FIRST Consent & Release (10/24)
Greetings parents!
Thank you to everyone who attended our parent meeting on Thursday. The slides that we presented are attached to this email for anyone who could not make it. Stay tuned for emails reiterating important information about the team.
Student Expectations
All students are expected to follow the Sarasota County Schools Code of Conduct. In addition, Spectre has guidelines for student conduct outlined in our team handbook, available on our website. Important points to remember:
Student GPA must be a minimum of 3.25 weighted at the end of Quarter 1. If this minimum GPA is not met, the student will be put on probation until the end of QTR 2. If the GPA is still not met by this time, they will not be allowed to be a member of the Spectre Team. They are welcome to reapply when they have brought up their grades to the required GPA.
Students must attend 80% of meetings. Students are expected to communicate at least 24 hours in advance (using the Meeting Absence form in Discord) if they miss a meeting.
Our meeting space is in Suncoast Technical College, not at our high school. Access to these facilities and their equipment is a privilege that can be taken away at any time. Students’ behavior should reflect the higher-level environment.
Students will be asked to sign an Honor Code (to be handed out this week). Violations of the honor code could result in removal from the team.
REQUIRED: FIRST Consent & Release:
To be a part of a FIRST team, parents must submit FIRST Inspires’ Consent and Release form. To complete this, visit https://login2.firstinspires.org/Account/Login.
Instructions for how to create an account and submit the form can be found here: https://fairportrobotics.org/prod/wp/?page_id=378, however, please use our team number, 8753, instead of that team’s!
Thank you for your support of your students and our team! Please reach out to our head coach, Stephen McCormack (Stephen.McCormack@sarasotacountyschools.net) with any questions! We’re going to start regular email communication with parents, so keep an eye out for more emails and let us know if you have any questions! Also, updates and more information is available on our website, spectre8753.com.
